GET YOUR HEAD WET WITH THE MONDELLO-cfm WET FLOW BENCHES

  Good cylinder head designers and engine builders have known for years that dry air does not provide an accurate representation of what is happening inside an engine’s intake ports and combustion chambers.

That’s why Joe Mondello along with Lloyd Creek of Creek Flow Management over the past several years have designed, tested and patented the innovative Mondello-cfm WFB2000 wet flow bench.

The WFB2000, already being used with great success by Reher Morrison of Arlington, Texas  will flow over 650 cfm through a 2.600” radiused orifice at 22” of water test pressure (500 cfm at 28”). Unlike standard flow benches, the WFB2000 does not record airflow cfm; instead, it flows a liquid of either distilled water or a specially designed solvent which has the same specific gravity as gasoline. A staining dye in the solution is used in conjunction with white layout dye in the combustion chamber to reveal air/fuel flow patterns at given valve lifts and test pressures. A liquid injection switch allows the user to control the amount and flow rate of test liquid that is introduced, and a clear plastic cover and test sleeve assembly bolts to the head so you can actually see what is happening. The one-gallon liquid reservoir is easily re-filled through an opening on the top of the cabinet, and features a float gauge and overflow safety tube. The test sleeve is fitted with a 2-1/2” bleed-off hose to recapture the test liquid.

Flow Test; Don’t Guess!  We have known for years that dry air is not the same as wet in flow testing so why not get your head wet with Mondello CFM’s WFB2000 wet flow bench (patent pending). When introducing wet flow into the cubic feet per minute circuit the test pressure increases 2” of water.  Good cylinder head designers & engine builders have relied on air flow testing for setting a standard of quality for maximum CFM of air flow, velocity, swirl & non-turbulent air in the intake ports, the design of valve seat shapes, valve bowl venturies, radii & most all multiple valve seat angles. 

The newer seat angles; 50º, 55º, 57º primary seat with 45º to 50º top cuts, 65º to 86º bowl & venturi undercut angles have opened up a new can of worms so Joe Mondello along with Lloyd Creek of Creek Flow Management have designed & patented the all new one & only wet flow bench available to the high performance industry.

Reher-Morrison has stated they have gained a vast amount of knowledge in a vary short time using their new Mondello-cfm WFB2000 bench.  They pulled 28” of test pressure at 1” lift on one of their R&D pro stock heads. A clear plastic flow sleeve the exact bore size of the engine doesn’t make much difference in test results & staining.  A clear plastic cover plate bolts the sleeve to the head plate so you can see everything as it is happening.  

Our liquid injection switch allows you to let in small or large amounts of test liquid in a constant or intermediate flow.  The test sleeve has a 2-1/2” bleed-off hose to recapture liquid during the test procedure.  The monometer goes from zero to 36“ test pressure controlled by the operator.  The liquid reservoir holds one gallon of fluid & has a float gauge and overflow safety tube.  It is filled through a conveniently placed opening on top of the cabinet.  We have four sizes of plugged orifices that, when opened, allows extra cooling of motors during testing.  The bench uses 240-volt single-phase power with a 50-amp breaker.

We have a Master Base Plate; spray bar included; (WBP1100) for our new wet flow conversion kit that will accept all of our slider plates in the new WBS Series & a radiused inlet cylinder head slider plate that bolts to the intake side of the head.

  The radiused inlet is sized to a 1205 Fel-Pro gasket on SB Chevy slider plate but they work well on heads ported to 1206 or 1207 gasket sizes. The WBP1100 Master Base Plate has side rails for perfect intake port alignment.  All slider plates are supplied with bolts including the WBP1100.   Our WDP Series Cylinder Head Deck Plate Adapter that bolts to the head surface is machined to accept SB Chevrolet 350 & SB Ford 351W to cut down on your cost.

  The head deck plate is machined & o-ringed to accept our acrylic clear sleeve with drain sleeve mounted. Our top plate attaches the sleeve to the head deck plate & is clear giving you 360° viewing of the combustion chamber when liquid & air are mixing it up! (see photos inside back cover) We supply 5/16 bolts & washers to attach the deck plate adapter to the cylinder head.
